I started Barelyfitru (instagram) in Jan 2020 after moving to Brandon, Manitoba. I had always been in and out of the gym during University but I only went for specific and mostly vain reasons.This made my gym life really random, I found myself doing crazy diets and going from working out 5 days a week to being inactive for weeks or doing binge cardio sessions before summer.

After moving in 2020, I literally knew nobody and working out became more fun, especially documenting it and watching myself do dope things. I started having more structure in my workout routine and eating better. It's now a huge part of my life, I like how it makes me feel physically and mentally, It also boosts my confidence being stronger/looking more toned.

I finally got certified by ISSA in May 2022 as a personal trainer, I also worked at the gym shortly but starting this online platform resonated more with my vision. I would love to help others figure out their own fitness journey and mostly build a community to keep us all motivated. Even though I have more experience, I still go through cycles of being unmotivated and tired.

I'm Nigerian (Edo & Urhobo), moved to Canada in 2014 (Winnipeg), Finished my Bachelor's in Biotechnology at the University of Manitoba in 2019, currently working and living in Vancouver/Coquitlam, BC.
